Yerba mate is an herbal tea made from the leaves and twigs of the Ilex paraguariensis plant, a holly tree that's native to South America. The tea brews slightly smoky and vegetal-sweet with complex earthy notes. Yerba mate is a great option if you're looking to reduce your caffeine content as it contains less caffeine than coffee, but more than black tea.  Yerba mate contains: Xanthines: Stimulants that includes caffeine and theobromine.
